New jobs for Leicester locals

Independent, family run recruitment business, S & L Personnel, have opened their newest branch in Leicester on Hinckley Road to make way for new jobs, all targeted for local people. With plenty of Christmas and seasonal work on offer for Leicester locals who want to get into work straight away and in time for Christmas as well as helping people find permanent positions to develop their careers.

To celebrate the launch of their new Leicester office and to help spread the word about the job opportunities, S & L held an open day for local people offering guaranteed interviews. After the success of the day a special ribbon cutting took place to officially open the new branch, which was undertaken by special guest Philip Brooks-Stephenson, business leader and co-founder of KuKu Connect which champions businesses in the East Midlands. Local businesses, residents and clients all joined the celebration and to raise a glass to jobs for local people.

The Lord Mayor of Leicester sent a message of support to S & L Personnel, which was delivered and read by Philip Brooks-Stephenson on her behalf:

“It is always heartening to see new businesses come to the city and it is equally encouraging to see existing businesses grow.  Leicester is a diverse and dynamic city and offers great potential to local people and it is therefore a great pleasure to welcome the opening of S & L Personnel here in the city.” The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Leicester

Growing your business isn’t always easy but is a necessity for your business’ survival. But how do you transform your existing business into the empire you envision? The below growth strategies have worked successfully with other businesses and can work for yours with some careful planning. Read part one below.

1. Target your existing customers.

To grow your business you need more new customers, correct? Well, yes and no. Your existing customers are an important group to target as these are already buying from you and have bought into your brand. So ask yourself if there are any ways you can possibly up sell or cross sell to your existing customer group and also encourage them to refer you to their contacts.

2. Ask for Referrals

Whilst we mention referrals, it’s important to never underestimate their power. But don’t just expect them to happen, actively ask for them to make them happen. During or after every sale ensure you ask your customer if they know of anyone else who could be interested in your service and even give them incentive to refer on. Nothing beats word of mouth.

3. Evolve

Can your product or service be used for anything else or somehow innovated? By doing this you potentially reach new markets and pique new interest. Think about the versatility of a product such as Sellotape and how few of these would be sold if it were only good for taping one thing.

4. Explore new territory

Opening a shop in a new location, engaging on a new social media platform or advertising in selective and specific media can all extend your reach so never be afraid to enter unchartered waters as you may just find some treasure!

5. Trade Shows

Whilst we’re on the subject of being specific, trade shows are a great way to engage with your target customers as they draw in people who are already interested in your product meaning that half the battle is already won. Ensure you choose carefully, thinking about your target demographic and product with the best profit margins.

Ensure your recruitment partner shares the values of your business, and integrates these values into the recruitment process. Don’t be afraid to ask them what their company values are when you talk to them – they should know them like the back of their hand!

Ensure the agency you choose to work with has a fantastic reputation in the area you operate and can back this up with testimonials from clients and workers. Are there lots of great testimonials on their website? If not, you may want to ask yourself why.

Do they care about their workers? Will they operate proactively to ensure they can supply your business with local workers tailored to the roles you require or will you just be another number for them?

  Over 40 local businesses joined S&L Personnel for the official launch of their new Rugby Office branch. Business guests networked over canapés and fizz and were joined by the Mayor of Rugby, Councillor Belinda Garcia who attended to celebrate the new office launch and to unveil a new plaque which marked the opening.


S&L Directors Simon and Andrew welcomed clients and guests from around the county to the celebrations making valuable new contacts to support the jobs market in Rugby.
